5 tips for deep cleaning your menstrual panties

It's time for a deep clean!

A slight smell or a slight cardboard effect? Don't panic, here are 5 tips to give your Ökovor a facelift!

Did you know? Deep cleaning your Herloop at least once every 3 or 4 cycles will prolong its life 😉.

Why wash in depth?

👉 To reinforce the absorption of panties (which may be "clogged" by excess detergent).
👉 To sanitise the fabric
👉 To neutralise odours
👉 To soften the absorbent part of the fabric
👉 To preserve the knickers for as long as possible

5 tips for deep cleaning your menstrual panties

1 Soak with white vinegar

How to do it:

1. Put 5 cl of vinegar in 1 litre of hot (but not boiling) water in a basin.

2. Soak the panties (previously rinsed) for 1 to 2 hours (or overnight if necessary).

3. You can add a tablespoon of baking soda in case of odours.

4. Rub the absorbent part.

5. Rinse and machine wash at 30º in a laundry bag.

6. Leave to air dry.

Where can I buy it?
In supermarkets

How often should I use it?
👉 Once every 3 or 4 cycles.

2 Sodium percarbonate

How to use

☝️ Use with gloves.

1. Pour 1 to 2 tablespoons of sodium percarbonate into an empty basin.

2. To activate the percarbonate, add very hot water.

3. Wait for the water to cool down a bit so as not to burn yourself and then immerse your menstrual panties (previously rinsed) in the basin. Leave it for about 2 hours.

4. Rub the absorbent part.

5. Rinse and machine wash at 30° in a laundry bag.

6. Leave to air dry.

Where can I buy it?
In supermarkets or organic shops.

How often should I use it?
👉 1 to 2 times a year.

3 Remove blood stains

☹️ Blood stains that remain on the fibres and are not removed.
Usually caused by incorrect rinsing or water that is too hot, which has caused the blood to adhere to the fabric.

✅Soak the panties in percarbonate and rub to loosen the blood from the fibres.

☹️ Discolouration stain on the absorbent part.
Caused by the acidity of vaginal secretions. This is a natural phenomenon related to the pH of the vagina, which tends to discolour the tissue.

Our fabric is certified to be free of products that are harmful to intimacy. And don't worry, discolouration won't make your panties any less effective!

4 Beware of detergent!

The choice of liquid detergent is important. It is not necessary to buy a special detergent for "menstrual panties", just one that does not contain too much glycerine, which saturates the fibres of the absorbent fabric.
To find out, just check the back of the packet: less than 15% detergent 👍.

Where can I buy my liquid detergent?
In supermarkets or organic shops.

Which brand should I choose?
👉 Organic brands are suitable as they are less aggressive and less greasy.
